For eight decades, the World Radio TV Handbook (WRTH) has been the go-to reference for radio enthusiasts, DXers, and professionals who want the most accurate, trusted, and up-to-date broadcasting information on the planet. But have you ever wondered what it takes to create a WRTH edition?
This year, we’re inviting you behind the curtain to explore the dedication, teamwork, and passion that fuel the making of the 80th Edition — a milestone in our history, and a celebration of global radio culture.
Creating WRTH is not a matter of simply collecting data — it’s about verifying every detail. Our editorial process starts months in advance, as we reach out to an extensive network of broadcasters, engineers, hobbyists, and contributors across the globe.
Every frequency, schedule, and station listing is cross-checked for accuracy, so when you open your WRTH, you know you’re holding a source you can trust. This meticulous approach has been part of our DNA since 1947.
If you would like to know more about the process and the upcoming special edition, you can join the WRTH team during this month’s Radio Unplugged Episode scheduled for 29th of August.

WRTH wouldn’t exist without our worldwide family of contributors. These are people who know their regions inside out, from shortwave operators in South America to FM specialists in Europe, from MW experts in Asia to DRM enthusiasts in Africa.
They send us updates, corrections, and new finds, ensuring our listings reflect the real state of the airwaves. It’s a global collaboration that connects professionals and hobbyists in a shared mission: preserving and celebrating the world’s radio landscape.
While we can’t give away all the surprises, we can share that the 80th Edition will feature the following points along with some big surpirses:
Refined station listings with even more user-friendly navigation
Expanded editorial features, spotlighting the history and evolution of global broadcasting
Fresh reviews and technical insights from leading voices in the radio community
Special touches to mark eight decades of WRTH heritage
Every page has been crafted with care, keeping both seasoned readers and new enthusiasts in mind.
Eighty years is more than a milestone — it’s a testament to the enduring relevance of radio and the global community it inspires. The WRTH 80th Edition is not just a reference book; it’s a celebration of the connections, discoveries, and shared passion that have kept our community thriving across generations.
This year’s edition is designed to honor the past, capture the present, and look toward the future of broadcasting.

Dear Sirs,
I repeat my suggestion from a few years ago: that you republish the musical pentagram for the interval signals.
Many thanks,
Fully Support Enrique’s comment. My early 1980s WRTH had little snippets of musical notation showing the musical callsigns or interval signals. You don’t need to be a musical expert to get something from this, as most people can see the pitch going up and down. For me it made the early editions really special and when I returned to the hobby and found they were no longer in the book, I felt that it had lost something. Anyway – food for thought, and thank you for a super book !
