The World’s Most Comprehensive
and Up-to-Date Guide to Broadcasting

About WRTH

Who is the new publisher of WRTH?

Following a 2022 announcement from the previous publisher, the “end of WRTH” was declared. But WRTH is back—more complete and up-to-date than ever! The Directory of Global Broadcasting is now also available as a web app and e-book.

Radio Data Center GmbH (RDC), founded in 2012, delivers professional data services for the broadcast radio industry. In 1986, Günter Lorenz founded FMLIST, the world’s most comprehensive FM broadcasting database. It went online in 2005 at fmlist.org, followed by MWLIST for mediumwave and shortwave.

Oliver Schmidt, CEO of RDC, also chairs UKW/TV-Arbeitskreis eV—the group behind FMLIST and publisher of the Sender-Table and European Radio Guide. RDC defines its mission as “being cartographers of the global radio landscape,” extending community-supported databases to a professional level.

Global shortwave broadcasting is declining, for understandable reasons. Still, long-distance reception (DX) remains appealing. Medium-wave transmitter shutdowns in Western Europe now offer new reception opportunities. Long-distance reception extends beyond shortwave to FM and DAB, supported by today’s advanced receivers—from portable devices to home SDR setups.

If WRTH focused only on international shortwave and tropical band stations, it would be a slim volume. Instead, this edition delivers complete coverage of medium wave, shortwave, and the most current global documentation on FM and DAB broadcasting.

To keep the print edition concise, we’ve excluded postal addresses. However, full contact details—including direct links to station websites—are available via the WRTH Web App.

WRTH has been the authoritative source for global broadcasting since 1947. Now under Radio Data Center GmbH, the tradition continues with enhanced digital access and updates.

Despite having just a few months to produce our first printed edition, our dedicated team made it possible. As you hold this edition, know that work on WRTH 2025 is already underway.

We thank you for your trust—and wish you clear signals on every waveband!
